Our entire transfer policy looks a complete mess and now we have this sale of a player who we have developed since 2019 for peanuts (£1m according to transfer market). He could comfortably have become our 4th centre half this season but instead we give the elderly and injury ridden Tomkins another year.

We will be in a total mess if either Andersen or Guehi leaves as Richards carries too many knocks to be considered a regular.

Obviously Lyon rate him…not sure what the policy is anymore selling promising young players and offering new contracts to the likes of Tomkins is mystifying

I think it is a loan with a smoke screen as a transfer, maybe for FFP purposes, i am sure a lot of parts to this transfer are unknown, i full expect us to resign him, for another "undisclosed" fee in a couple of years.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Could well be the case . Strightforward transfers seem a thing of the past though I believe contracts have to be registered with the FA in the UK so assume it would be he same in France . 'Undisclosed' means not for public consumption ,not that they are hiding anything from governing bodies . If that were the case evry transfer would be undisclosed .

Tomkins gets labeled injury ridden whereas Richards just carries a few knocks,

When you are young you carry knocks. When you get older they become more like permanent injuries. Certainly did for me anyway.

Jake, must have come quite close to making it for us. The problem for him and all the younger players, that are no longer under twenty ones , is they can’t afford to stand still. If good opportunities come up elsewhere , they need to pursue them.
Hopefully the club have received a fair fee for Jake, and Jake makes progress at what is a high profile club. Good luck to him, personally I have a feeling he will succeed.
