Just looked at the club website and see this main story

That came as a shock. His new club were in La Liga last season so a good move for him. With Street having gone to Cheltenham Town and Banks looking like going to St Pauli in Hamburg, things are beginning to look up for the Academy - hopefully, we'll soon have one being transferred into our first team!

Sorry that last statement was wishful thinking on my part.

Good move for him. He seemed too small for the Prem. So going to Spain is perhaps a very shrewd move. Good luck to him.

Ye interesting moves for the lads going abroad. Good luck to them. I'll be popping along to a few St Pauli games to keep an eye on how Banks does. Gyorkeres was there a few seasons ago. Didn't do much there but it's worked out for him since.

A little sad for me as he looked a real handful in the Premier International cup matches but good luck Ffionn in Spain

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

A little harsh. It’s actually early days for the Academy - we won’t see it’s true value until we see players emerge after spending their entire youth career within it.

Don't hold your breathe - it might be of more use it the worst happens this season.

I actually do think it's improving. Players are actually starting to be sold (I'm sure for minimal fees) to half decent teams or loaned out to teams further up the football ladder than they previously were. Obviously there's still a way to go but it'll take time. If we've not had one or two genuinely competing for first team places within the next 3 years then I'd start to be disappointed.

If we were a lower league side which needed to sell from the Academy to make ends meet fair enough but there will not be one single player from the present crop of academy players involved under RH this season.

…he’s just over 5”6. He’s about the same height as Cabaye and smaller than McArthur. I accept there are good central midfielders that were/are short, but they are normally an exception. I didn’t mean it as a major criticism. Just that he’s chosen a great league to build his career. 100% I’d have preferred for him to stay and make it at palace.

He really impressed me whenever i saw the high lights from games he was involved in. Look liked a really good playmaker with ability to keep possession and pick a pass. I was disappointed it was a permanent rather than a loan move from the Palace perspective but a great move for Fionn. Will be interesting to see how he progresses now he hopefully gets to play in a professional league on a regular basis.
