We are probably looking at the contracts of players in the championship for a bargain or two . With inflated prices meaning anyone who can walk fast starts at £20m a two year old contract with a buy out clause might prove tempting

But we will see ,the main worry I think is Doucour'e with Liverpool missing out on their main targets he has got to be top of their list by now .

Then start talking silly money like Brighton did . It’s the only answer. To answer the OP question . We have this year , but the way the Premier league is allowing it’s self to be run that problem may not be so far away, that’s if we are not weakened enough to get relegated in the mean time anyway. Brightons strategy has worked beyond any other outfit , finding the players has been the key, but getting absolute top money when they sell is putting the club on a different level. No one is at the same level on this, certainly not Palace , but if forced to sell make it when it suits, for the best possible money.

Very annoyed that the team that we built over the last 2 years will reportedly by sold off. Zaha all but gone. Olise to Chelsea , Decoure to Liverpool, Andersen to Tottenham, Guehi to Tottenham or Newcastle, Guaita to Getafe, Eze to Liverpool. Depressed

You weren’t around in the early 80’s or 90’s I take it? It’s what tends to happen when we do eventually get a decent team together. Football is vastly different now, but some things never change

It looks like Zaha going with Olise to follow could be a defining moment for the club.
Both these were outside the club’s control, but if it leads to further unrest with Doucoure, Anderson and Guehi questioning whether to stick around (even when under contract) it leads to a difficult situation for the club to deal with.
They could potentially double their wages, their agents could walk off with millions and they could play European football.
I don’t envy the club having to deal with this at the moment.
A couple of significant signings may redress the balance, but I hope Roy can keep the players focused ahead of the Arsenal game with all this uncertainty.

Exactly how I see it. Parish has to earn his corn now.

There was a Captain Hindsight Palace fan called Paul on talksport giving Parish some stick this morning over the Olise sale. Parish should’ve done this, Parish should’ve done that, Parish should’ve put another £10 million on his release clause blah blah. It’s so easy for any of us as fans without the responsibility to say what we think SP should’ve done, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Obviously no-one expected Olise to be as good as he was as quick and no-one could’ve predicted the crazy money being thrown around for players, especially by Chelsea now.
SP probably thought two years ago £35 million for a player who cost us £8 million would be a brilliant bit of business.
