I presumed the idea was do the new stand, then gradually do the rest - at our pace over this millennium or so.

They can't do anything with the other ones.

Many different reasons from blocking light to transport

The players have nothing to do with the disgrace that is the AW for a club of ten years PL standing.

I'm sure that the facilities are awful, but I doubt that the club will spend money patching up an obsolete stand.
It's more likely that they will redo the whole thing at some point. Regrettably, we might not live long enough to see it.

It has been said by previous owners and council also look up regulations.

You really think if they was able to the corners wouldn't be filled in (if no restrictions it would make more sense to do the Arthur Wait stand)

I'm not going to dispute facts that I don't know about, but I suspect that the AW could be replaced within limits.

There is actually no sunlight restriction rule as I understand it. In any case, the AW need not be much taller than it is now in order to have a cantilever roof, similar to the new main stand, and better facilities.

The WHL could be increased with some clever designing.

A couple of years ago it was all explained about when you could change what stand. If I remember rightly....
1. The WH has the Exec boxes - so that can't be changed until that provision is elsewhere - ie NEW Old Stand
2. The AW has so many seats that the number cannot easily be transferred during a build. The stand was a grass terrace with concrete steps on top and that was roofed over. so the whole lot would be to be closed - maybe in sections whilst the ground is dug out like happened with the Holmesdale. Then there is the issue over double decking, which creates a problem planning and without it the capacity would be the same for a substantial cost and losses during build.
3. The Old Stand has the greatest scope for increasing capacity, corporates etc. So it was a no-brainer to deal with that first.
4. The WH is also due to have a number of rows cut from it to fit in a longer pitch - which will cause further challenges for development.

OK, just thinking about it quickly. If the WHL end had 4k added to it, the ground capacity would be cut to around 29k if the AW was closed for a season.

Not ideal but worth it for a stand with better facilities and unrestricted view.
The only negative could be that adding more capacity could be difficult if the height was restricted.

Someone with more knowledge of the prevailing circumstances might enlighten us.

Another user posted in some other thread a few videos of Noades speaking about this subject (I think they are hosted on youtube) and how he had purchased the houses on that side to get around some of the regulations.

Blocking light is one of the ones councils look at I had this myself and so have others I know.

Back then it would have been easier as well less reg compared to now.

He mentions about he had agreement to move to old Crystal Palace site but at the time would only allow 30 thousand stadium he wanted 40 which is why he redeveloped Selhurst (He wanted to do more but council kept refusing)

I think that money talks in the end.

We could buy all the houses behind the AW if we were so inclined. It's just a matter of how much our benefactors are prepared to shell out to make it happen. It has to make financial sense.

The club's image is important in the global market, so the figures might not be so easy to calculate in terms of benefit.

I don't think there are any fair play rules regarding stadium redevelopment.
