Now, admittedly, its quite a while since I played football. But I do recall wearing these almost "wicketkeeper-esque" shinpads that protected the full shin, and also the ankles. Despite this medievil armour I remember getting kicked and it being rather painful! These days, players wear a small plastic button down their socks - surely what with the net worth of players, and the speed of the game these days, isn't it risky to play with such abandon?

The thing is Noz is that when we used to get kicked all those years ago it was a football boot making contact . These days the lads play in carpet slippers .

I recall, many years ago, being informed that Jack Grealish wore small shinpads as he found the larger ones more restrictive.
