I’ve celebrated the win with 2 really good beers no longer made. Fullers Imperial Porter (10%) and a 330ml of Buxtons Lasker (16.7%)

So pleased to get the win. Just a shame we can’t turn back the clock , make Roy 50 years old and have another 25 years in safe hands.

Thanks Roy. You’ve made me drink 2 beers I save for special occasions!

I find a good array of crafties at Ark Craft Beer in Selsdon or Good Beer half way down Surrey street

They know their ales very well to suit your tastes or twist your tongue

By no means a classic ale, but I've discovered a lager that's easy to consume.

St Bertin is an Alsace style lager from Lidl, and available in two strengths.
I like it in the 2.6% abv version.

Why the ...? I hear you ask.
Well, 29p per 250ml bottle (£1.16 per litre) is one hell of a reason. It's light and refreshing, and great for the forthcoming heatwave.

Fullers do some excellent special beers or they did. Use to do Past Masters (old beers brought back), Brewers Reserves (left in whisky/bourbon barrels) and a wonderful Imperial Stout, which I still think is the best beer I have ever had.

Over the last couple of years (since the Asahi takeover) they have trimmed it down to just their standard ales and market London Pride like it's something special, when it's probably their blandest beer.

Do still like ESB though, and London Porter, 1845 and Bengal Lancer are also worthwhile.

I’d hardly call London Pride bland. If it is you’re not drinking it at The Royal Standard

Brains Reverend James is far better than Skull Attack.
