This is on the Botafogo website translated from Portuguese. At the end of the Brazilian, Botafogo will revive tradition of international excursions that marked his history of glories and will make a friendly against his brother Crystal Palace, on December 3, in London. Botafogo will revive its historical tradition of international excursions, seeking to experience high-level competitions in Europe and the United States. This new tradition begins with a uk tour and a friendly with brother Crystal Palace Football Club in south London on 3 December at Selhurst Park Stadium. "I am very grateful to our Crystal Palace partners for giving us the opportunity to share a bit of Brazil with football lovers in the UK," commented Eagle Football President John Textor. "Palace fans were very kind to follow the reconstruction of Botafogo in Brazil and it will be great for our players and staff to get to know them closely. Botafogo's veteran players will be able to play again against old friends, while our younger players will have the chance to show their skills while training at Crystal Palace academy and playing at Selhurst Park. We couldn't be more grateful for the collaboration," Textor said. Founded in 1861, Crystal Palace is a major football club in the world, competing in the world's largest national competition and has developed a relationship with Botafogo from the connection with John Textor, who is a shareholder of both clubs. Like Botafogo, Palace has a rich history and well known for having passionate fans and better atmospheres of games in Europe. Among the highlights of the team is the athlete Wilfried Zaha, who played more than 400 games for the team, having graduated on the palatial basis. Coached by Patrick Vieira, a former world champion player for France in 1998 and with a prominent stint in the Premier League and major clubs in Europe, Palace will offer the facilities of their basic categories for training the Glorious. Year-end planning is set. The Brazilian Championship closes on November 13. On November 14 and 15, there will be training normally, followed by a period off between the 16th and 20th. Planning for the match against the Eagles will resume on the 21st, with general representation. In London, training and other activities are planned with a focus on the 3rd, when the big friendly against Palace will take place at Selhurst Park. Attachment: fogo.png.crdownload (1,725.67Kb)

Botafogo 4 x 2 Charlton, this morning {coper's cope). Edited by theorist (01 Dec 2022 1.54pm) Jeffinho - 3 goals. (22yo) In my opinion, the one to watch saturday. Left side forward. One year senior level experience - at any level. First 1/2 of last year ~4th tier brazil league. Ended year as one of the better left wingers in Brasiliero Serie A (Brasilian punditry). Timeline - Botafogo/Textor announce all Transfer window activities and 'budget' will be determined during London visit. Botafogo/Textor announce Jeffinho will not be transferred in the International Window in January. Reports of interest stop dead. Edited by theorist (01 Dec 2022 2.22pm)

Whenever I see the name Botafogo I think of their great players of yesteryear, Gerson, Didi and Garrincha.

Well before my time but Garrincha they say was one of the greatest players of all time known especially for his dribbling skills. His right leg was 6 centimetres shorter than his left, also his left leg turned outwards and his right turned inwards, leading one doctor to certify him as crippled as a child. As a boy he was smaller than other kids his age and his sister called him Garrincha, the name in the north-east of Brazil for a little brown bird. The name obviously stuck. Garrincha with another bloke from Brazil who was also pretty good. Attachment: pele-and-garrincha_u5tx5xs5gnkl1fxga89wabh1u.jpg (225.34Kb)

According to some football experts only 2 players have won the world cup on their own e.g. dragged the rest of the team along with them. 1962 Garrincha with Brazil 1986 Maradona with Argentina. I never saw Garrincha play but the 1986 Argentine side was pretty average apart from Maradona. Edited by Badger11 (02 Dec 2022 9.03am)
