Mark Bright is up there in the modern day.....That's a good guy to have on your team as either a player or management structure. Freedman is an interesting guy.....Has always done well at Palace and rightly has the plaudits. It would be interesting to know why it went so wrong elsewhere....Bolton for example. Until his wife cut his hair.
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Now the comment of Dougie is interesting. Are we rating as player manager or both (as you mention Bolton where he managed but never played.) If we are looking at management has to be Southgate. As a player he captained the side to lift championship trophy, as aanagrr h took England to a Euro final

If we re going by the criteria set in the original posting then I don't think Don Rogers and John Hughes ( as suggested in previous replies) really fit. They both came to Palace in the latter stages of their career and weren't actually at the club for very long. I don't see either of them being Palace through and through. Yes, they were great players to watch in their time at Palace but Rogers would be a better fit for a similar topic on a Swindon forum, and Hughes for Celtic.
