Bah, from memory we exited fairly swiftly when Roy was in charge, and I see no difference in the list of priorities facing the club under Vieira. A totally debased competition, teams don't even bother to put out their strongest side, which says everything.

If it is voluntary then that point doesn't show up on the Carabao cup competition website where it talks about clubs from the PL & EFL participating -

Perhaps you have seen it mentioned somewhere ?
Or know of clubs that have declined to participate ?

No greater indication of the downfall of Luka.

Another missed penalty, another yellow card. Pens and free kicks used to be his speciality but his appetite for cards is undiminished. His creativity and passing were always his weakest points.

Isn't it time he is dropped and Will Hughes (tidy against Newcastle) gets a run ?

Luka didnt miss the penalty ,the keeper made a decent save . He plays in a position ,protecting the defence ,where yellow cards are an unfortunate bi-product of doing the job . Look at any DM in the country and they will have yellow cards against their name . Its notable that he is cute enough never to get another one .

He is not the player he was but Id still take him over Hughes who is rightly another notch down the pecking order .

What a sensible post from someone who clearly knows their football.

I'm not that bothered about this Cup, although obviously it would be nice for Palace to actually win a trophy.

Taking the positives, we didn't lose and didn't concede during the actual game.

The pens weren't great, and I think we have a right to expect better from Luka and Mateta.

The format and timing of this competition need reviewing to generate more interest.

Agreed here that Palace got the game to a full time draw - good outcome against a strong team in top 5.

Agreed Luka & Boom Boom need to practice pens daily - the approach & finish was easy got keeper to predict

Forever Palace Proud

how would we know, he has never been given a run in the team. If he isn’t that good then why the hell did we buy him?

We have missed out on a massive chance to win this thing.

Man city face liverpool and that would leave just the winners of that and the mancs as top sides left in it.

An also ran side will make wembley or sure. Lets hope its not brighscum!
