In 1962 a gallon of petrol (5 shillings, now 25p) was 1.63% of average weekly earnings (£799 pa = £15.37 pw) Today a gallon of petrol is £7.54 (£1.66 x 4.54) which is 1.03% of 2021 average weekly earnings (£38,131 pa = £733.29 pw). By this measure, petrol today is cheaper than it was in 1962.

I don’t seem to have many clocks to do now with everything being internet based, the only two I have to do in the house I hardly even notice they’re there anymore through the year

By this measure, petrol today is cheaper than it was in 1962. I think that applies to lots of things. I am sure that clothing is cheaper today and possibly even food. I suspect the one thing that is more expensive is housing but that is no surprise when the population increase has not been matched by house building.
