Hmmm. Maybe I have been too harsh on Roy. Perhaps this is why he left making substitutions so late. I agree that PV doesn't have that many options off the bench. We were set up to defend under Roy which is less tiring than playing football . Maybe PV feels he needs to respond when the other side brings on 3 internationals in one go . Roy just took it as a complement .

right.... ive done some research and last season we conceded 9 goals in the last 5 minutes of games (majority in 90+ mins)..... this costed us 12 points which would have put us on 60 points in 6th place and a place in europe.......
ill take a bet now that will drop more points this season than last in the final 5 mins

With his subs Vieira simply invites pressure. It was written though, that Conor G. would score the winner. I do think PV's tactics are not helping. Always 3 late subs that totally loses any momentum we might have. Even in the win against Villa he did the same and in the last 15 minutes we seemed a bit disjointed, despite Villa being there for a pasting. Having said that the players must take some responsibility. PV wants us playing more possession football yet at times we fail to do the basics and just give the opposition the ball, which of course invites pressure. Chelsea's 1st goal really annoyed me. They bring their big centre half up and stand him on Clyne, our smallest defender. Pretty obvious what would happen. Could say Ward not have switched positions when he saw what was happening? In a match things happen and players need to adjust and react. This doesn't seem to happen anymore Edited by palace99 (03 Oct 2022 9.45am)

You should train to gain fitness for the level and typical of football you are playing. This has been an issue with Palace for a long time something is not right with the fitness. A clear example is look at other teams not the big ones who have players which are not at Palace quality level but the work rate is a lot higher. The other issue is poor tactics/subs or lack off.

This is not just a recent thing. It’s part of the Palace thing.

The other issue is poor tactics/subs or lack off It's not a lack of fitness. Palace are a fit team. It's purely down to strength and depth of squad. Viera switched around what he could but it's a very different looking bench compared to the top 6 teams in the country! Hughes, Tomkins, Mateta and Schlupp can all play football but they are not Mount, Gallagher, Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek or potentially Broja. However when you compare Palace's efforts against Chelsea on Saturday to the W*nkers pathetic effort yesterday against City there is no absolutely no comparison given the clubs budgets involved!!!
