I think people are forgetting its only 13 games until the next window, and there is no point in wasting money, if any long-term injuries occur in the 13 games it can be addressed in the next window buy loans, at the beginning of next season Ebiowei will have had game time and Rak-Sakyi a full season under his belt, and Luka. Clyne, Ward, Tomkins, McArthur, Butland, Guaita, Ferguson, Ayew, Schlupp and of course Wilf will be out of contract, and i would think the majority will not be offered new ones, which opens up a lot off income saved, to replenish the squad

Not according to the Coventry manager and supporters who saw him play and were so disappointed with his performance that cut short his loan and sent him back to us

He may not be ready for top flight football and may never be ready. In his defence I did read an article from a Midlands local newspaper that suggested he was the fall out of a dispute between the manager and the board.

Simply put the board foisted him on the manager who wasn't asked and the kid then had one bad game.

It happens sometimes that a player gets caught in an internal club row.

The article also said that Coventry has 3/4 players who could do that role so you do wonder why Coventry signed him.

No idea if any of this is true.

There are 110 players in the last year of their contract in the premiership alone

One away game at Bristol and the Coventry fans want him out. Really. I would imagine fewer than 1,000 fans have seen him play. And no Coventry fans have seen him play more than once. Happy to javelin him back rather than playing in a Coventry side which looks destined for a relegation struggle this season

This season, Coventry have played with a back three and Jake Bidwell who can play in a traditional 'Left-back' role has played as the 'Left-wing back'.

Not so as he also played in an under 23 game and was described as hopeless by those that watched

Anyone who has seen Tayo's performances for us will know what a talent he is.

He is in the naughty chair with PV but he is back.

I am hopeful he comes through and plays in the PL this season.

It is possible as I suggested that he was caught in some internal politics at the club and after he was subbed off in his first game, downed tools. Maybe he realised his best way out of the mess was to play poorly in the U23 game?

At least this is what I am hoping because the alternative means he's no good.

Wilf isn't exactly loved at Cardiff for his performances!

Where is Zaha going aged 30 next season? To a Champions League team? You need to think these things through. Good start to the season this year, granted. Cast your mind back to Spurs away on Boxing Day. Not so good there. Ebiowei is going to be a top player in a season or two.

Lots of places. He is free and minimal risk. Not only will he get a European team, he will get a lovely signing on fee.

If Erickson can get a United gig, zaha will get plenty of offers.

Yes he is 30, but he will still have something to offer an Arsenal for example.

Chelsea just paid 10/15m for a striker who is 33

Lots of grumbling about the lack of signings this window. Quality & Value rather than Quantity and over-paying.

This window:
Doucoure: a class addition, first team starter.
Johnstone: will take over from Guiata at some point this season - first team starter, on a free.
Ebiowei: watch him closely when he plays - top class addition for next to nothing, and will eventually become a Premier quality first team starter.

Last Summer:
Guehi: top quality, first team starter
Andersson: top quality, first team starter
Olise: top quality, will become full first team starter this season.

That is 6 quality players in during the first 13 months of Viera's tenure. Plus Eze in a previous window, and Mitchell through the academy. That's 8 players since the final hurrah of the Hodgson era.

We are only 3 or 4 away from a top quality matchday squad, with excellent younger players coming through. Shame about Connor and Wan-Bissaka but we move on. Adamarola being recalled from loan gives cover for Mitchell. Clyne will hold up for the season. Need a front man and another holding midfielder - if we get one of those in during the January window, which is only 13 games away with the World Cup, then we will be in good shape for the 2nd half of the season.

Happy days! Just need to keep up the good work defending set pieces, and improve our nous closing out games with some attacking threat.

Dont forget we spent a lot of money on Sakho and Benteke, and both were absolute pants on balance. Chelsea have changed out almost their whole team this summer and are getting striped every week. I know where I would rather be.

Jesus, finally some common sense and a bit of positivity! Good post.

I read a few post only 13 games till next window ! And
That a serious amount of points to get us at a good position to avoid a relegation battle

A number of teams have recruited & to be honest this season seems very open on games that are hard to call

Pity that we didn’t get a couple of critical players as we could have cracked on with more confidence

Let’s see how we go hopefully not draw draw draw
