In 1960 Crewe travelled to White Hart Lane for a midweek cup replay in which they were trounced 13-2. Some intrepid Crewe fans made the journey to London but a number arrived at the stadium late due to adverse weather. Apparently one of them, on getting into the ground just as half time arrived , asked, not surprisingly, "what's the score"? On being informed it was 10-1, replied "who to?"

I think there have been a number of games where one team was being absolutely trounced only for the game to be called off for bad weather and in the replay the losing side then won. I'm sure Willo can advise specifics.

And they supposedly left from platform 13 and arrived back at platform 2.

I had a friend who was a huge Celtic fan who was at an airport with his wife. She bought him a book which surprised him as he wasn't a big reader but she told him it was about football. Turned out to be the Mo Johnston story.

I seem to remember even a flushed Steve McManoman (spelling) cracked one in at the end.

I was working the evening of the Liverpool game and had not been aware of what was going on. I got home as News aTen was just turning to sport. The newsreader said and now a shock result from division 1 (premier league?). I remember thinking wow we must have won .

I'd gone to France and heard the "shock result" patter then found out the score. My granddad had just died after being a Palace fan for about 75 years and that night there was a massive thunderstorm which cheered me up a bit thinking he hadn't taken it well.
