Yes, I agree. I've thought for some time that I'd love to see him attacking defences from deeper. He really does have the close control and pace to be an eye-opener in that role. I feel for him really. He clearly is blessed with skill and has good feet, but scoring easily in the easy peasy Scottish Premier League has knocked his confidence when confronted with the high tempo EPL.

We appear to be collecting players who can play wide and cut in and score the occasional goal. Zaha has excelled goal wise last season and looks to be repeating it this season but we also have, Olise, Ayew, Ebiowei, Edouard and potentially Schlupp and Eze plus Rak-Sakai on loan. What we don’t have is a fox in the box who can bury 40/50% of his on target shots. I like Mateta but he is not the complete answer and we don’t know what Plange can offer because we have sent him off on loan to a lower standard league than he was playing last season. In short we need a quick striker who knows where the back of the net is. If we could unearth another Jamie Vardy we would have a euro challenging team on our hands.

I don't think we're anywhere near unique in that. With Zaha we're actually probably closer than a lot of teams are. Arsenal (Jesus), City (Haaland), Tottenham (Kane), Newcastle (Wilson), Fulham (Mitrovic), Brentford (Toney), Villa (Watkins/Ings), Liverpool (Nunez) are the clubs with a convincing out and out forward. Leeds, Brighton, Forest, Chelsea, United, Bournemouth, Everton, Southampton, West Ham, Wolves (Jimenez question mark), Leicester (when Vardy not fit), Palace are all clubs who will need to spread the goals around 4/5 different attackers. It could arguably be better to be in the latter group. Unearthing an attacking gem is what everyone would like, but if they go off form/get injured then a totally different style is required.
