Anyone who lived through the inflationary 70s is less concerned about what's going on. We'll re-adjust and budget accordingly. Folk these days are too quick to whinge and expect to be bailed out by 'the government', forgetting that it's their money the government has to use. Anyway, I received a note from British Gas yesterday to advise that I would be paid £400 in October to assist with my energy bill. Hunky dory. Well hmg figures say about 15% of the population in the ‘poverty’ bracket. Why the payments arnt means tested I don’t know.

It always costs more to means test to stop comfortable people getting assistance. We all know this. See cost of land, property and wages. At some point offices in Delhi will decide if you get government payments or not.
