One of my theories around understanding politics is to focus as much on what is not being reported as is. And given that France has been in a virtual state of anarchy for a while now, to see this as the main story on the BBC indicates to me that things must be REALLY bad. The s***-libs in every kind of form LOVE Macron, the little Granny/body guard shagging midget represents everything they hold dear. So to see even them, and the shibboleth that is the BBC when it comes to Soc.libbery having to actually acknowledge the problem is scary. Because things must be much worse over the other side of the channel than even I thought.

King's visit to France cancelled due to protests. A visit that would have been months in the planning and preparation. You don't just cancel those on a whim. Edited by Matov (24 Mar 2023 12.50pm)

The French are not deferential to their rulers it is an English trait, in fact we are becoming an authoritarian state where protest is becoming unlawful Their energy bills are a quarter of ours, because they are prepared to take on the state, they are proud of it. Here the President, like in Israel, is further enraging the population by messing with democracy and parliament. It is as though, merely because you are elected. even in a minority coalition, you can just do what you jolly well like.

Keep taking the tablets. There's a fair bit of truth in what he's saying. Here we've always trusted our politicians. The last three years and continued sucking off of Boris Johnson despite the behaviour of him and his government are prime, indeed ultimate examples of that that will result in shovel loads of the same going forward. The French have always had a bit of bite and fight about them, which at least gives those in power pause for throught at times.

So having riots against the tories being in charge would be correct then. Edited by cryrst (24 Mar 2023 9.26pm)
