PV has now used it on three occasions maybe he i leaning towards that way

Quite a difference I think you would agree. The point being that to get the best out of this system you need the right players.

I understand what you are saying, it all depends on the budget available, Doucoure deal is "supposed" to be done at 15m, AWB 2 year loan with obligation to buy at the end, and a new CD 10/12M or Loan, if we have 50mplus to spend a different matter altogether.

I think there are a few pros and cons immediately looking at this as a possibility: - Let's just say it is AWB, I wouldn't really class either him or Mitchell as 'wing backs' however that's not completely damning. - I would like to see Anderson and Guehi either side of a real, solid, blood and guts CB if it's three at the back. We have been vulnerable in from set pieces and perhaps at time just lacking that extra bit of 'body on the line'. Tarkowski has been mentioned, not for me however. - Eze needs to stay fit IMHO or we need a back up there. Without CG I'd be sceptical of anyone else playing that role. - I think Wilf is less of a winger these days, or certainly not the one he was, a more central role could be pivotal to getting the best out of him. - Olise? Not quite sure he fits there but a very talented player so would like to see us getting the most out of him. I'd trust PV to do so. - I think Ward's short term future could well be at Palace in a back 3. Would suit him far better these days than as a RB. Said it before and I'll say it again, love him but a liability at times down the flank. I've been critical of him but I'd like to see him stay tbh. He deserves a cult hero status. - I'd worry we would miss a real goalscoring player. Although that has been the case for a while now. We haven't had a recognised goalscorer since Benteke's first season. Bats did an OK job there. On the other hand Edouard might do well but I think we'd see less and less of Mateta and would worry he'd become CB Mark II. - I do like that set up, however, as always, will it work? If we do go down that route time will only tell. I think many Palace fans may despair at the idea being so used to the 4-3-3 however embrace change! We may need to.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

3-5-2 is a good Plan B and we switched to it mid-game yesterday. Unfortunately it was mainly a 5-3-2 and we gave Man U too much respect. AWB isn't a wing-back. That's a major reason he's out of favour with Man U. If we are going to play 3-5-2 then, ideally, we need two strikers as the 2 IMO. Ultimately, though, I think Vieira's favoured line-up remains 4-3-3.

To play 352 you need exactly the right type of player for too many positions, wing backs that are just as good going forward as they are defensively, that's neither Mitchell or awb, a dm who is just as good at cb, if you lose the ball in an attacking position it just reverts to a back 4 so you need a cd who can cover at lb or rb. It works if you have a great team otherwise you just end up playing 532, it makes no sense having 2 great wide players in zaha and olise and replacing their job with Mitchell and awb.
