Agreed. Unless it is a rare or expensive item I don't see the point in holding an auction it normally means the item is listed for days / weeks but the real bidding only starts on the last day so you have wasted all that time. I think it better to list it with a price as the turnover will be quicker, as a buyer I no longer take part in auctions I found them a waste of time and not really an auction. I have been gazumped many times, at the last minute someone outbids you leaving you no time to respond that wouldn't happen in an auction house the bidding continues until everyone is done. Edited by Badger11 (03 Jun 2022 8.43am) I agree to a point but if you have stock you need to turn over then some as auctions will sell. Maybe for less than buy it now but turnover is important if it’s a business. Buying as an auction is simply put in the highest your prepared to pay and eBay steps it up against other bids. You don’t necessarily pay your highest offer. Can get some bargains as well if you search for ambiguous listings and auctions ending in the middle of the night are sometimes good as no one is watching or bidding live.

Whilst this now seems to have turned into a debate about how best to flog stuff on eBay it started as a bit of promotion of an individuals business venture nothing to do with Palace. Sorry to be a miserable git but this is a message board not gumtree and on the past this sort of promotion was not allowed. Guess these days anything goes.

That’s why it is in the general talk section and not palace. But I do get your point, I wasn’t trying to be annoying just hard to get yourself out there if you don’t take a few risks. Have a good weekend

A tip: if you have a minimum price you are happy with then put some as auction bids starting with that price. Add postage on them as well so your minimum take less the eBay charges is what you get. People like to haggle and auction is a bit like that. Have a buy it now price as well so if it hits that you’ve made your dough. There is always or normally someone selling it cheaper so scan the item and at least match that price.
I’ve seemed to do better so far with but it now, taken a couple of offers a few pound less but have revived the full amount a few times aswell.

Managed to get this little beauty today, does anyone know what year this was from? I thought around 97/98 but can’t seem to find it anywhere. This will be going up for sale on eBay when I take good pics so if anyone is interested feel free to check it out! Attachment: 4AC7291E-2A9A-48BA-B99D-5802B10F42FB.jpeg (5,106.05Kb)

Hi Sport Also - I gave up on the auctions, it didnt really seem to provide enough bids to make it worthwhile, I just ended up putting the price I wanted & a slightly lower price as a buy it now price, some things sold quickly some took a little while longer but it worked for me- Obviously you still get the planks that seem to think they are being clever, on an item listed for £75.00 they bid £15.00, I just rejected the offer & let them know accordingly Originally posted by ambrose77

Managing to make a sale almost everyday now so going reasonably well. Haven’t had much luck with auction and items seem to go for a lot less when on auction.
