Has anyone here been before? Just wondering how it works/what to expect. The ticket I've got is for Holmesdale Lower Block E. Is that just an arbitrary Block, to stop people all arriving at the same gate? Where are the breweries set up - do they use the pitch? (I'm not expecting they are!) What are peoples experiences of it in the past? Seems good Value to me. Plenty of choice. Gonna Be a struggle to try all them!

Entry is top of Holmesdale Rd, once inside you are free to wander around the Holmesdale, up & down(just remember which stairs lead where). There are acts on all levels(as well as 'bars'), the outlets are usually open & sell beer tokens(£2.50 ea). You collect your free glass on way in(don't drop or lose it). This is my 8th one, not an 'ale' drinker, but enjoy a tipple & seeing peeps that i haven't seen for ages. Enjoy.

Went to the inaugural event! I distinctly recall Neil Morrissey being carried out by two members of staff having enjoyed the occasion perhaps too enthusiastically. Was bloody hot that day aslo!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

eagleman.. I don't think you have to be an 'ale' drinker to enjoy a beer festival any more. With so many craft beers about - which in following todays society, don't identify as Ale or Lager anymore, but is now something non-binary 'Ale' has been discarded; only to frequent locals or moonlight as a 'guest beer' !

Can't argue with that . . .

Is there something of an irony in the fact that there's a beer festival in a place that for the rest of the year purveys beer that's akin to piss?
