Just read PV passage on Tyrick understanding that he needed a recheck of sorts.Goid idea to give him a game or two off to get perspective on his season. For such a young lad he had been a key player for first 11.His learning his trade really well & should not be down on himself.I don’t hold him responsible entirely for the Chelsea goals - we have 10 others who need to support him positionally game time & mentally outside of. Look forward to seeing him back on the pitch showing other youngsters how the likes of Gordon,Bissaka made the position theirs by a bit of arrogance & willingness to take it down the flank Plus when he comes back & takes throw ins you other lot need to not be statues for him damn well move off your player to be his option or open up space as a decoy - 🤣

Quite right. Just think what he has achieved in little over one season: regular slot in an EPL team, lauded by the media, played in an FA Cup Semi Final (and the mental pressure of feeling his mistake cost his team mates the game), and started, yes started, in a full England International debut. A jewel for our future. Edited by Slimey Toad (26 Apr 2022 9.13am)

I agree with these comments about Mitchell. He's had an outstanding season for us and has made a significant contribution to our performance on the pitch. It's easy to forget he's such a young lad. I'm certain PV is taking care of him and that he'll be back stronger next term.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

This smacks of good man management by PV to me. Tyrick has had a year and more of real highs and now hit a low. Probably harder for a youngster to cope with than a seasoned pro. I imagine PV will have put his arms around his shoulders and said "You've been fantastic and are a key member of the team and a short time out will give you time to refocus and come back even stronger". I sense that the rest of the squad will have been really supportive as well. This may also make him think twice about a big money move away whilst he is still learning the game with us. If properly managed, he can be a real star for us.

Yes…totally agree with above observations. He has been a genuine star performer. I saw his face after the Chelsea game and he was in tears. Took things to heart - but that shows passion..:wants to win!

I also think he isn't 100% physically. Before his injury, I don't ever recall seeing him outrun, as Almiron managed to do for the lone Newcastle goal. Tyrick at 85% is better than anyone else we've got, but after such a long grind of a season, it's smart to give him the rest he needs for his long-term health and for our success – if we can keep him. (And it's a shame that Almiron managed to finish so clinically. Tough chance, but he took it.)
