Personally I don't really take a lot of interest in the champions league but this makes me even less interested. Can see this eventually backfiring as it's the same teams usually every year as it is - and this almost cements it

Yeah I heard about this. It is utterly appalling.

It is but unfortunately this is not surprising. The CL is a cash cow for UEFA and that is all that matters.
The new proposed FFP, which is 70% of income, I believe, surely is to the benefit of the big clubs

I think bigger teams who have more supporters should receive 1.1 goals per goal scored. They have more supporters so more people would get made happy.

I can't recall EVER watching a Champions League match. No interest from me whatsoever. It's completely contrived. The vast majority of participants aren't and never will be champions, and it isn't a league.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It's gone beyond that already, mate. Didn't you watch Palace v Liverpool? Liverpool were awarded 3 goals for the 1 they scored legitimately.

I've a always thought that matches should be decided by ballot, much like the trades union block vote .... The bigger the mrmbership, the bigger the result. Deciding it by goals scored is ridiculous, misleading and opens up the possibility of the wrong team winning. Obviously pundits would maintain fairness and display no bias whatsoever.

I’ve just come across and watched ‘The English Game’ exclusive to Netflix and football has come full circle from being run by Old Etonian rich toffs in the FA and playing in the FA Cup final to now, rich owners and consortiums controlling the game via their wealth.

I don’t watch the champions league and I don’t see that changing much ever again. It isn’t the achievement it used to be because none of the teams are home grown and it’s always the biggest spending teams playing out training drills most of the time. Zero interest in it.
