Because I don't rate him. Or rather, I think Gallagher is better and I'd like to see Eze play. I just think Ward, Ayew, McArthur look out of their depth against top half of the table teams. The man in question arrives half a second too late and the resulting free kicks put us under pressure we can do without.

That said, McArthur has his supporters. And against the likes of Watford and Burnley, you're right: he might do a job. But, for me, not ahead of Gallagher and Eze. Yesterday's midfield of McArthur, Kouyate, Schlupp would have been brilliant for a Championship side but all three are just too limited for where we are. Certainly as a threesome.
