Good morning fellow Supporters, I hope you all had a good Christmas and wish you a happy new year. One of the CPFC facebook supporters groups I am a member of recently posted a photograph of the gravestone of Edmund Goodman, the founding father of the reformed Crystal Palace FC 1905. His grave is in Beckenham Crematorium and Cemetery and is in a shocking state. We want to get the whole thing restored and have received a quotation of circa £2K which I know from experience is very reasonable given the work that needs doing and the entire inscription recut. We also want to raise enough to have a plaque tributing the fans for the refurbishment that should be there for its existence. I am sure you are aware of this but just in case, Edmund Goodman helped establish the club, appointed the first Manager and Chairman in 1905, became Manager himself in 1907 and is our longest ever serving Manager at 18 years. Then he became Club Secretary until 1933. Goodmans signature is on all the original 1905 contracts, one of which was was displayed in the Centenary Exhibition in Katherine Street Croydon in 2005. I have set up a go fund me page, link below. If you would be kind enough to make a donation, no matter how small, it would be much appreciated. The current commemoration for this man is simply not fitting and I felt I had to do something. We will have an unveiling with members of the Holmesdale Fanatics and CPFC Ambassadors when we complete the appeal. Kind regards, Lee Snashfold [Link]
