are we letting in same amount of goals, but scoring more? Or are we defensively better?

For me, most gamed have been very entertaining.. that's all I care about.

So halfway through this season we have played 19 and got 23 points. Halfway through last season we had played 19 and got 23 points. The big difference is in goal difference however, 0 this season compared to -11 last season.

I guess the other big difference is that we are actually good to watch sometimes, and have a much younger squad that can only get better.

The second half of last season we played 19 and got another 21 points, but with a goal difference of -14. I am very hopeful we will do much better than that this season.

So 2020/21: P 38 Points 44 GD -25

What are your predictions for 2021/22? Mine are

P 38 Points 48 GD +3

Also go back and look at last seasons performances, we was extremely lucky in numerous games, I can't remember them all off the top of my head but Brighton at home stands out, the utd game one of the worst games of football luckily you couldn't see half due to fog, pretty sure we beat Burnley without having a shot on goal, Leeds, Bamford disallowed goal, soft red I think.

This season we've been unlucky not to be atleast 7 points better off

Absolutely this. Let's simply enjoy what we currently have while it lasts.

Yes let's hope our home form continues - although we still have to entertain the top 5 - or our away form improves

We need to remember that this is not the finished article. We are at the start of a long period of transformation for the club. Whatever we are seeing now are just the ‘first shoots’ of the new growth that has been planned for sometime.

Huge steps were taken in the summer to overhaul the squad and to dramatically change the way we play. This could easily have meant we struggled to hold our mid-table position while the team adjusted to a new, inexperienced manager and learned a new style of play. That was in fact what most fans and pundits expected for the first half of this season. Most expected us to be around the bottom of the Premier Leguae by Christmas. We were expecting to have to sacrifice short term success to achieve the longer term objectives - a club successfully playing attractive football, with strong financials and an accredited academy with top class facilities producing valuable players who will contribute to our future success. The fact that this transformation has started without sacrificing any short term results is absolutely amazing.

Lots of people deserve the credit for this including Vieira, Freedman, Parish and Textor but also Hodgson for keeping us in the Premier League while Freedman and Parish prepared the moves we saw in the summer - new players, new investor and new direction. The full results of this are still to come though!

Half the matches we won last season, we deserved to lose, and the points were stolen with ridiculous luck. This season, we've been terribly unlucky not to have 4-6 more points than we have.

In addition to that, I dreaded watching us play last season. It was a chore. This year, for the most part, I feel like we can give it a go against anyone.

Yes, giving up cheap goals late, and giving up so many goals on set pieces, is frustrating. But overall, we're playing much better football this year, and I think the players would tell you they like playing under PV much better than under Roy.
