The more urgent thing to address is surely the number of people who realise we are absurd in our dealings with failed asylum seekers and have allowed a system they can play.

Was just about to post this. Surely if his asylum application had failed surely him still being here is the biggest issue at play here.

So are you content to allow “asylum seekers” who enter the UKi illegally and then lie to the authorities to remain?

As a basic principle, removal seems unarguable in such circumstances.

You will probably have better information than me, but I suspect that whilst the desire is there, the means may be stymied by international conventions and practicalities. Like where, and how to send him, if we don't enjoy good relations, have flights there, or they refuse to accept him.

No-body wants dirty washing dumped on them. If their home country can be shown by an efficient lawyer to present a risk, then we are between a rock and a hard place.

The biggest issue for me seems like an abject failure of the security forces. For me, the red flags look blindingly obvious.

So he’s suddenly a terrorist again rather than a nutjob?

Clutching at straws.

He is both, but he's not really a Christian is he Dan.

Your debating, and a few others, is at such a desperate level when you have to question my assertion that he was an Islamist.

It is quite pathetic really.

We have sleep walked into a situation where we have so many who need monitoring we don't have the resources.

It is emerging that he was going to his mosque at the same time he started buying bomb components, coincidences abound

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

To a certain extent you are correct. As I mentioned previously, the biggest problem with removing undocumented arrivals, is getting them documented ( if this makes sense). It is not unusual for them to claim to be a nationality that they are not. This bomber claimed to be a Syrian, which he was not. To remove anyone you need authority/acceptance from the receiving government.
Many years ago, Nigerian nationals were claiming to be Liberian, as they knew Liberians would not be removed, I was involved in a few who, we removed to Nigeria but on arrival they denied being Nigerian and were immediately returned to the UK.
