All I’m meaning guys is we should play attacking formation and go for it. Olise over Ayew type thing. Could be Newcastle come to play a bit of Royball and have all 11 behind the ball, which would make it a different proposition to the teams we have already played.

another lets slag off Benteke fest I don't think it's a case of slagging him off, more pointing out a potential weakness in his role under our new system. He has limited movement and doesn't really press with any intensity. He has his strengths, but personally I'm just not sure they fit our new system. Having said that, I thought he had one of his better games on Monday and took his goal well. It'll be interesting to see how much Newcastle change. When Jones came in they suddenly looked more threatening going forward, but the question is whether he was aligned with Bruce or whether he had his own ideas. I guess Vieira just has to concentrate on our game. ASM is a maverick so you can't easily prepare for someone like that. The key will be keeping good possession and perhaps McArthur trying another one of his volleys.

I wouldn't worry too much today, lads. We're shockingly unfit for a professional football team let alone a Premier League one. I think the best Newcastle fans are hoping for today is to make a spirited start to the game and perhaps get an early goal buoyed by a dejected, dispirited Steve Bruce no longer being around. However, what we will likely find is a massive drop off in intensity after 20 minutes and by the 60th we will be finished and there for the taking with the likes of Olise, Gallagher and Zaha allowed space to dictate. We have become prone to retreating quickly to the edge of our area in the turnover of possession which leaves vast amounts of space for forwards and technical midfielders to exploit in the final third. A clear confidence and mentality issue. You also have little to worry about today when it comes to your tendency to conceded late goals, Wilson is unlikely to see through the 90 minutes having just returned from injury. I have enjoyed watching Viera's transformation of Palace this season and think he deserves more credit than he appears to be receiving. Notably the renewed energy, organisation and intensity of the side and the desire to press the opposition in the midfield and spring counter attacks. Qualities that are the absolute antithesis to Newcastle this season and could likely prove the difference today. Although in reality, any fit team will find points easy to come by against us until we get a coach who actually has the players in training more than 2 or 3 days per week. 1-1 at half time, 3-1 home win after 90.

I know Bentenke scored, but he still does not work as hard as any of our other players and seems reluctant to close people down. Under our new system it seems all about aggressive pressing and forcing mistakes and for that reason I would stick Edouard back in the middle, Wilf left and Olise on the right. Newcastle are weaker on the left side of defence than the right, so this might be a good game to give the young lad his debut. I thought Ayew played ok again at Arsenal, but Olise yet again looked more threatening in a brief cameo. He also takes a mean set-piece. Other than that I wouldn't change anything I agree. The quality shown thus far by Olise in his brief opportunities is really exciting - his pace is also something that gives defences something else to worry about. Against Newcastle he should start over JA. This is an important game for us today and a game that historically (after a great performance against a so call big team) we lose (to a crap team). I am really looking forward to it and think it could be a further indication that the “new” Palace is something I can continue to be really excited by. Good times!
