Kids still aren't. They weren't interested or bothered when he cuddled up with Lois Lane and they won't care when he's doing it with a male character. People being more bothered about certain displays of affection than others, does not make said affection more sexual or sexualised in nature. I wouldn't think that Superman comics will suddenly be filled with sex scenes. Admittedly though it may have been better if it had just been a new character. Technically it is, but 'not really'.
For my money kids don’t need teaching points at every stage of their lives. Superman is a comic book character who should be there for entertainment.

The mere existence of people in relationships (gay or straight) is not an adult topic, it's a readily observable and unavoidable reality. While it's perfectly fair to question co-opting an existing character and plastering this new dimension on them, I would suggest we do not need to censor whole demographics out of fiction when they can be readily witnessed in the world with the same eyes that read the page. That's a better fit with oppressive religious cultures. It's more about how this is approached than if.

Nature ensures that homosexuality is very much a minority. Unlike yourself, It has zero concern for equality as equality is bad for the continence of the species. Its processes are only concerned with what is most effective which is why its production of males to females is broadly equal but that their sexuality isn't....nature isn't egalitarian but in observation more complementarian. While I support teaching respect for all within schools I've always supported Thatcher's section 28 as a highly sensible law. I recall Rod Liddle recently saying how sensible it was. I regard all teaching of sexuality beyond the biological as a huge failure within schools. I remember the claims made for it at the start and they all turned out false. Statistics show that a child's best prospects come from having a father and mother and a stable upbringing. Equality isn't true, there is no equality between lifestyles. Ironically many left wing people who support non traditional lifestyles will themselves have led successful traditional ones. Their insistence that young children need to be taught about different sexualities and genders and the absurd idea that they are all the same is a direct attack on plain truth. It is egalitarianism lying to the innocent. Superman now being co-opted as bisexual is just another power play aimed at pushing non traditional lifestyles onto the young....which in most circumstances is directly against their own interests.
