Yeah, the north is a giant cess pit money wise, but as boris decided to single handedly decide he had the power to go against international law and tinker with it, i"m glad the president told him to fcuk off! The yanks, including the Irish yanks, soon turn in to fully fledged , anti immigrration cnuts, turning their wrath on to the mexicans-this , happened 30 odd years ago, maybe longer. My mate from ROS worked in NYC for years , and couldn"t believe the Irish blaming the Mexicans for the downfall of work-they were obviously the old school conservative Irish, he had to shake his head in disbelief- the irony! The danger of trump getting elected was he might just have bought in to this boris nonsense-in exchange for a new golf course in the south maybe, lining his own pockets obvs! Biden isn"t having any of it- taxi for boris!

My mate looked into his relations and found a great, great Uncle in the US. He was running for mayor of Chicago. He was running on a 'yellow peril' ticket. Early 1900s. From Laois originally.

Ha ha, he should have been at home at the G.P.O! Like I said the irony!

I2m going to correct this, the uprising hadn"t happened in early 19th century, he was more likely there fleeing the potato famine. This is just as bad, the mexicans were probably starving to- hope he didn"t get elected!

Does the french president incessantly crawl to the USA like this?

Its like the UK reporting for its daily orders.

And they might as well as the tories have sold off so much to the USA we may as well be considered as the 52nd (?) state.

Not mentioning a certain PL football club of course!

The NHS is holding out but that will be dismembered by the tories, they have probably run out of money servicing the 2 trillions of debt.

When you see them cut the £20 of poor people who badly need it, while spending over 100 billions on a railway line you wonder if there is any sanity left.

Biden is actually right, no trade deal means you can actually trade and our balance is healthy.

Trade deals are 90% political and 10% trade.

What exactly have the Tories sold off to the USA?

This is a huge stretch - you speak as if 'the left' are some multi-national organisation with agreed aims and wishes.

When we were being told how great Brexit would be for trade, no one caveated that to say it was dependent on a particular President staying in power, nor does anyone here have any impact to influence which President would be elected, so to suggest any blame lies with left-leaning UK citizens is frankly a nonsense.

The quote in my post above is from a republican congressman and very logically explains why it was always a fantasy.

I haven't read the next two pages, but thank you for this reply!!

Where is the surprise?

Brexiteers knew we would fall down the world pecking order. They knew the USA valued us for the very reason that we provided the gateway into the huge EU market.

They voted leave knowing the transatlantic relationship would greatly diminish but considered other factors to weigh heavier.

Thus while I sympathise with the op it is little more than telling us night follows day.

It's 'good for the economy' to sell off our companies to foreign owned private equity companies - Sunak.

The NHS is half way there, make the waiting lists so long that anyone in a hurry has to go private- What do you mean you don"t have private health insurance? You can go without warm food, just buy a loaf of bread and make it last a week! You can go without heating and hot water- just put an extra jumper or two on, and have a cats lick in the sink like we used to do! But medical insurance, thats a priority! You have medical insurance with us already? Hold on, ah, we don"t cover for that particular operation, but you can put it in if you like, for increased premiums obviously, and a clause that you cant claim on that particular disease for 15 years! where you gone? ......
