We weren't clinical upfront and our defending at set pieces was poor on Saturday. Coupled with poor (biased) refereeing left us coming away with an unflattering 3 Nil score line. Jairo was at fault for 2 of those set peices. Indeed as technically gifted he his, on Saturday he ran around like a headless chicken. Maybe it's because he hasn't digested PV's methods yet. Either way, I see Luka moving up PV's pecking order now. Ayew is a hard working, combative, skillful player but has no pace. Benteke does do good work for the team but he is a striker who wants/needs to be spoon fed and like Ayew lacks pace. Wilf was the only real option when it came to breaking the Scouse's highline on Saturday. Perhaps both Edouard & Olise aren't match fit. I agree with most here, they will soon replace both Benteke & Ayew. The U23's highlights, 6-1 drubbing of Leicester, showed once again just how talented Rak-Sakyi is. I'd like to see him as an option off the bench, sacrificing a holding midfielder. We've not seen Hughes yet but on current form Jairo would be dropped. PV is still getting to know his team but the trajectory is, without doubt, promising. Edited by GujiRascal (21 Sep 2021 1.26pm) I think they are match fit. But I think PV is gradually integrating Edouard to take pressure off of him. And Olise is young, missed some of pre season and has stepped up a considerable level. PV is being patient and I think we need to be as well - their time will come
