Just come back from York the cost for 3 adult return tickets into town centre £9.90 costing us £3.30 per person

Or we could pay £10 for a group ticket for up to 5 people which if there was 5 of us in a car would be £2 per person

I feel like park and rides are taking us for a ride in draining our wallets , especially York as I have never paid so much in other UK cities

My local bus service charges approximately £3.50 for a single into town 1.5 miles. You cannot buy a return. Parking is £2.40 for 1 hour, for a family of 4 what would you do?

Park and ride was brought in to reduce cars from town centres and reduce pollution, At first they were great value and you would pay a flat rate per car and up to 5 people could travel into the town centre, which was usually a few quid back then, unfortunately now they have become a money spinner for local councils and they are pricing people per person, in my situation i felt annoyed that we pay £3.30 each return being only 3 and A car Of 5 people pay £10 group ticket why couldn't it be £2 per person and a car of 5 pay £9.50 offering a slight discount as 5 people are going to use more fuel on the bus.

Unfortunately you have to use the park and ride otherwise you are out of pocket,it's the pricing of it I disagree with when it's designed to be more greener and it's a little unfair for groups of 3 travellers.

How much would parking have cost you?

It would have cost £2.70 per hour

We spent about 3 hrs in total before getting bus back which takes about 20 mins each way

Thats walkable spider if its you alone sneaking out! You could save £3,50, and do your gym for the day at the same time! More cash for beer, and carrying it home will build up your arms, win win!Saving the exhaust fumes is an added bonus- win win win!

Says the man who just said he is going to use Ubers! Seriously I have never used the bus service, it is predominantly only used by OAPs, at least drivers don’t waste time collecting fares

Exactly, the car is still tops. Plus you can nip back to the car to drop off bulky shopping and continue your shop, without the hassle of trying to get all your purchases on a stoopid bus, back to the car.

Park and Ride, The most pointless and futile attempt at being Green. But an excellent example of how to make your shopping trip the most awkward, expensive and inconvenient experience possible.

I disengage, I turn the page.
