I hope we play with some balls. There's something in this game for us if we do. 100%.

Yes at least one! But playing with more than one ball at a time could get us into trouble!

To have any chance against this Liverpool side we are going to have to exploit the spaces behind their on rushing fullbacks. Teams have shown this to be a weakness in the past and most recently AC Milan.

To this end I would swap out Ayew and Benteke for Olise's and Edouard's pace. Both Ayew and Benteke have been good but pace is key here. There is an argument to save them two until later, when legs are tired. My concern is that Liverpool might be 2 or 3 up by then and will defend their lead.

We also are going to have to break quickly out of defence.

The long raking pass by Luka to Olise last Saturday for the 3rd, says to me he should be in. Who to sacrifice in midfield then? My preference for this game is to have 2 holding players. That means McArthur on the bench. He's been excellent but for this match i'd give his body a well deserved rest.

We're short on options at the back. Ward is playing some of his best football years and Mitchell seems to have found his feet against Spurs. I'd leave the backline unchanged.

Which is essentially what he has just said in the pre-match press conference. He wants his team to be brave and cause Liverpool problems. However, I expect there will be a greater emphasis on defence than in the three previous games where we had either the majority of possession or our fair share.

His response re Benteke v Edouard suggests he may start with Benteke.

He hinted that he may start both - Edouard and Wilf either side of Benteke.

Guaita
Ward Anderson Guehi Mitchell
Kouyate
Gallagher McArthur
Edouard Zaha
Benteke

With Olise to come on for Benteke and switch roles with Edouard, and Hughes and Luka to come on for Kouyate and McArthur..

Damn i like the sound of that.

Yup he says Edouard can play as a winger alongside Benteke. We'll see.

How about a ball and a balloon - that got Pepe Reina into trouble a few years back.

I think same team for this one. Benteke was not awful the other day and he ability to pin the passing together is very useful and I think brings CG into the game better (when he is not doing it on his own).

I see PV's plan as bringing CB closer to the action through quick passing without having to lump the ball up to him. His hold up play is good, but the way we have been playing doesn't suggest holding up the ball for too long, but quick release and pass. That's what I'm seeing anyway.

OE could do that job too IMHO.

Just watched the press conference...

PV did sound out the idea of playing Edouard as a winger coming in, as he did in his early years in France, to accommodate both him n Benteke.

I think it was diplomatic answer. PV's been great that way. Making sure everybody gets credit.

Not sure who he'll start with.

I just want to get something from the game to shut Mark Lawrence up.
