As each tournament passes by and with her failing to get beyond the second round ( if that ) she is beginning to look more and more like a one hit wonder. She has talent ( you don't win a Grand Slam tournament without it) but is finding it difficult to build on that early success. Obviously lots of injuries have not helped. When someone has success at an early age it is very important that they get the right advice and guidance, and can remain grounded. After her US Open win her face was everywhere and it seemed that every opportunity was taken to capitalise on that victory. Perhaps she needed someone to stop her head from being turned, and to put aside the outside noise and concentrate on her game. Time will tell if she can move up the rankings again, but unless she can do so those lucrative endorsements will start to dry up.

She may yet make it if she gets over her injuries and nerves. Needs a top class coach as well. She literally lives at the bottom of my garden. During lockdown she used to hit balls with her dad in their front garden. Hope she makes it as a Bromley girl but she is made for life from all the deals she got.

She should have never fired her coach after she won the US Open. I get that there's higher profile names out there, but this is the person that trained you to win, at least wait until you lose a few. she didn't fire that guy. I think he was 'loaned' to her by the LTA on a short term basis. He's UK based with a young family and didn't want to travel the world.

Thanks for the clarification, it makes more sense now. I just thought it was very odd at the time. Originally posted by palace99

Shame she doesn't support the Palace. Tottenham fan.
