Right, i enjoy meat in all ways, i am what people would/used to describe as a 'meat n 2 veg' person(Geordie family upbringing). I love my meat dishes & proud that i havent pandered to the constant barrage of grass eating snowflakes who keep reminding me day in, day out, how heinous it is to, not only eat meat, but, enjoy doing so.

I also replied, I have no idea, to your 1st Q?

You're conflating the eating of meat (which I do) with stating that you don't care how animals are treated as long as you get to eat them - there's a huge gap between the two points.

I manage to eat meat and no one reminds me day in, day out of anything to do with it, nor do I receive a barrage of anything from 'grass-eating snowflakes' - I'd suggest those are perceived consequences, rather than reality, in my opinion of course.

What is there to be proud of in enjoying eating meat? Others enjoy eating other things - do you think they're proud as well?

Or get a truffler!!

By choice, corn fed for me, BUT, if in hurry/cant source i'll take factory one, not bothered what or where its fed/raised.

It's this sort of dross that makes me glad that people of your age, holding this sort of opinion, are not long for this world.

That and the fact that artificially grown meat is on the horizon, and in a few decades natural meat will in time become the preserve of the rich. Get ready for your lab grown steaks... coming atcha sooner than you think!

*puts tin hat on*

An indifference to pain and cruelty towards animals (where it can be avoided - as it can even if this industry) is little different from the same attitude towards children. In both instances they rely on us.

I'm a carnivore & proud of it, I know what I like & if I have to source certain cuts ie, Venison, I will. I'm not bothered what an animal is fed or, how it lives.

Why would you imagine that if as animal is fed crap like plastic, cardboard and rubbish and ill treated that won't somehow translate into health issues beyond the animal? Have you not heard 'you are what you eat'?

There's little point being partially 'refined' one minute with your cuts of Venison, while coming off as a shove it down my gullet, dispassionate type who doesn't care what's actually in the meat he's eating, what the animal was fed its whole life, or whether it was treated well or led a pained, hellish existence.

These videos which are from the US are not proven, as the article says, insinuations.

That being said, better quality feed produces better tasting meat.

I wonder if anyone posting here has ever actually fed a pig, as I have? A once had a couple of small pot-bellied pigs as pets and have spent time in Asia where keeping a few pigs is common place. They are much more intelligent than you might imagine, but are also strongly motivated by a desire to eat. Much like my dog, they will eat many things they cannot digest, but these get passed through.

They will root through waste and extract nutrition from it. Nutrition that is then recycled to us. Not sending nutrition to landfill makes sense to me in a needy world.

That is not to say we should not ensure they lead a good and happy life. A life they wouldn't have at all unless we eat them. The relationship between people and their pigs I have seen in Asia was one of care and respect, but without undue sentiment. The animals are treated kindly, not abused or put into over restricted spaces, washed to keep cool and fed well. When killed the children can, and do, watch, so they become accustomed to what their purpose is.

Not caring about how we treat the animals that serve us is, in my opinion, inhuman. As being inhuman will show itself in ways unrelated to the care we show to animals, it's a trait which is rightly being condemned.
