Can we still Loan out players to the Championship or has that Window closed?

No, we cant. So, yes that window has closed. FIFA told the FA, as from 17.00hrs Thurs 4th Feb 2021 there would be no more post transfer loan window incl emergency loans.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Any thoughts as to why we haven't loaned out any of our youngsters apart from Spence who went to L2 Bristol Rovers early in the window? I was wondering whether the new management teams at all levels want more time to assess each player and determine the best development route for them, Will be interesting to see if any of them get loaned out in January.

I read somewhere that we haven't loaned out the youngsters so that we can remain competitive in the top-level U23-league we've just been promoted to, which makes sense.

Perhaps a group of people sat around a table and assessed the impact historic loans had on ultimate first team selection or profitable sale, and decided that this model does not work for us. Better to keep in house, especially under our new Cat 1, and release/sell if a player can't progress. Also, if we continue to blossom in the youth leagues, perhaps the term "ex Palace" will eventually have the same cache (and selling power) as, say, "ex Liverpool". Finally, we just hired a very expensive and highly regarded coach from PSG to facilitate a more effective transition from minor to major. Odd if we then ship out all his little lambs. I am hoping the club see this window as the last big splurge. From now on we're feeding the first XI with fresh meat, locally reared.

Have any recent loan spells been considered a success? The lad who went to Hibs effectively ended his Palace career.

It doesn’t look like the loan out of players is something PV is that keen on. We have the various youth teams etc and if they are good enough then the bench for the first team. Entirely different outlook from the Roy era.

I must admit i thought we could still loan out players a week after the window shuts.
