Great signing. Where does that leave Benteke ? Still first choice. New fella has to earn his spot as always.

For me, this is a fantastic signing. Edouard is a natural, 20-goal-a-season pure scorer. Players like that are very rare and even when they don't flourish (see Dwight Gayle), they still score some goals. Edouard was dominant at Celtic for three seasons, has played (and scored) in Europe, and has an exceptional international age group record. If we'd signed him eighteen months ago before it went sour at Celtic, we'd all be splaffing ourselves. Furthermore, he's young. The best is yet to come and if he achieves what he did at Celtic with us, which is entirely possible, he'll be worth £50 million and up very quickly indeed. I don't see anyone out there who'd have been a better deal (outside top six players who simply aren't available to us). We've had an outstanding window and this is the cherry on the cake. We now have a proper centre forward (Benteke) and a proper inside forward (Edouard) as well to use the old terminology. Each should make the other more effective. Edouard is a class apart from Mateta, Nketiah, Ayew, and anyone else mentioned when it comes to scoring goals. Simple as that. Time will tell if he can deliver in the Premier League but he's easily the best (and most exciting) option that was open to us at the present time. Well done Parish. I don't think Benteke and Edouard are either/or (as was the case with Benteke/Mateta and even Benteke/Ayew). These two are more Keegan/Toshack. They can easily play together and off each other, and make one another more effective. Obviously depends on Viera's tactics but i think playing them together would give us a very effective scoring threat.
