F1 is a bit of a joke nowadays anyway and nothing like the fun it once was. That was clearly why they made the decision to run for 2 laps, so it could be called a race. If anyone has seen the film 'Rush', this gives a good example of how things were. It was in Japan 1976 at the final race of the season and Lauda said it was too dangerous to race because of the rain. Hunt won the race and the World Championship as a result. Mind you, Lauda was still recovering from his near death crash at the Nurburgring and Spa is a far more dangerous track than Fuji.
