Even with Gallagher and Olise I still think we need more presence in midfield - Delaney is 29 years old and wud be like having the James McArthur of five seasons ago rather than the admirable but slightly faded version we have now - a defensive midfielder with mobility and offensive flair. Transfer fee wud be relatively small for his ability/pedigree, but wages wud be high I suspect.

I wonder if the link is historic, in terms of us being linked with him when Favre was reputedly set to join as manager.
Favre and Delaney had a good working relationship at Dortmund and Delaney was supposedly one of the players Favre identified as a player he would like to sign should he become manager.
I think he’s a good player and was impressed with him at the Euros.
He would enhance our midfield options, but as others have suggested, he is 29 and prone to injuries.
There may be better options, but if not I wouldn’t be averse to him joining.
