There's a lot of good advice on here, some you'll need to take and apply to your own particular situation. Work out your BMR (basal metabloic rate) and use that a base to work out your calorie intake. MyFitnessPal is a great way to track your meals. I personally think without tracking, it's impossible to get an accurate guage on your nutrition. info appreciated.

acolcpfc has put out a lot of information a very small % is good but sorry the rest is typical mains stream BS. You want to lose weight and become learner I take it well simple become fat adapted and you can then do high protein. High intensity exercise is what you want to do if you are doing this correctly you wont be able to do it 5 days for 1hr 3 times a week is best to give you time to recover later down the road you can increase. No carbs are required at all people that state this as stated at beginning going by mainstream BS they don't have any understanding about human physiology the same with recommending fiber. Stay clear of protein powers as well if you can again more processed food you don't require you can get everything you need by eating a correct diet which offers bio available nutrition.

info appreciated. Whey protein with circa 80% protein in it is adequate. Myprotein's impact way is great value and all you need really. Comes in every flavour under the sun as well as unflavoured, so you can't go wrong with them really.

I wouldn't recommend high-intensity exercise for a beginner in their or approaching their 60s. Carbs are needed post workout to replenish glycogen, and pre to fuel workouts but other than that I'd agree that they aren't required. Real food over protein powders always, but for ease, convenience and digestion, 1 protein shake post-workout is fine.

High intensity is great for anyone you change it to your needs so if its first time and you are older you reduce the time and rather then do say sets of 5 you do 3 its what fits that person. No protein shakes are needed at all consume natural products which can be eaten before or after it doesn't matter some people feel better with either (If some one must go down protein shake route go for casein and a product which is as clean as possible so seed oils or the likes of aspartame they put so much rubbish in the products with claims its good for you when its not) Unflavored should be close to max 1g of carbs and flavored around 3g with the protein being minimum of 23g Rest of the advice is very good

just remembered something from Fitter Fans that CPFC ran about 10 years ago, for fans over 40 years old. It was about a gradual change in lifestyle to get fitter. Like now, I'm just off to walk the dogs down the beach, and if it's hotter this afternoon, I might take a bit of a swim
I disengage, I turn the page. |
