Which? recommend a 43" 4K HDR Smart LED model
which is available for £350-£390 from Richer Sounds, John Lewis and others. Picture and sound is up with the best (says Which?)

It is not the latest but has Freesat as well as Freeview
and some catch up apps.

This is what I am getting as it is the right size for my room.

Presently I have a 40" Samsung which is 5 years old and OK but doesn't handle dark shades too well.

I'm a bit out of date as I bought my screen about three years ago to replace a plasma.

At the time I looked at quite a few LED screens and didn't like them because fast moving people blurred at the edges and I couldn't sit and watch football or cricket with blurry bits in it.

I ended up buying an LG OLED screen but that's not relevant to this thread as it cost considerably more than the OP's budget but it shows how important it is to look at the screen you want to buy to make sure that it's suitable for the purpose that you want.

No point watching a demo of slow moving film from a hard disc if you want it to watch action on

Just make sure you don't buy one with built in ads. Most annoying thing ever - and the direction things are heading unfortunately.

Try Costco, they had a couple of good T.V's, Namely a Samsung 55" 4K UHD T.V. for around 370 something plus VAT...

Sounds like a good deal. It does seem like you can get far more bang for your buck with TVs and electronics in general than say a decade back.

Indeed you do, same as holidays abroad, and supermarket booze, although wine has gone up lately.

True. I hope travel is once again a bit more of a formality. I daren't even consider booking anything right now in case 'something changes'. Still, that has acted to the benefit of many a British seaside town so far .
