The other side of this coin is why has it come out?
Who leaked it - the police?
If he is guilty then the proverbial book needs to be thrown as it is despicable but we still live - or are meant to - in a country where you are innocent until proven guilty.
If he is innocent he will be unfairly tarred forever - if he is guilty then he deserves to be!

But guilty of what? The internet has frothed us all up with the phrase 'child sex offences' but I have read that it is to do with texting underage girls (under 16 I presume).
Wrong of course and rightly punishable, but not what we may have thought it was.

All rather absurd when anyone can push another button and learn who it is.

but isn't that the point? you are not 'learning' who it is, your believing someones supposition. Whats worse is that in doing so 'we' are either harming an innocent mans reputation or preventing a guilty man from being prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.

I dared to counter someone on Twitter who said that Prince Andrew is a paedophile, by saying that very thing - that in this country everyone is assumed to be innocent until proven guilty and in any case that Prince Andrew had neither been arrested nor charged with any offence.

As a result the poster blocked me, after replying that clearly I either support paedophilia or I am a paedophile myself.

It's looked at as grooming. Exactly the same as what Adam Johnson did (if true) & he served years in prison for it.

The Attorney General has issued a warning to social media platforms and their users over posts about a Premier League footballer who has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offences.

The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at his home last week and released on bail pending further investigations.

Britain's chief legal adviser has warned that such posts could be in contempt of court, a crime that carries a potential prison sentence, and his office reminded social media platforms that it is important they remove information that could prejudice court proceedings.

The Attorney General, Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, said: "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and everyone deserves a fair trial.

"A mis-judged tweet or post could have grave repercussions and interfere with a trial. It could mean a trial is delayed or at worst stopped because a fair trial isn’t possible – so I would caution everyone, don’t get in the way of justice being done.

"The Attorney General’s Office will monitor the situation and we will review any contempt of court allegations made to us."

The incident comes one month after Mr Ellis QC launched a campaign called #ThinkBeforeYouPost in an effort to prevent high-profile trials from collapsing due to people misusing social media.

So the Attorney General has basically explained how anyone can avoid a conviction in future. Just get a load of 'associates' to post about what a wrong 'un you are....how you are bang to rights....how you used to beat up your granny and why you deserve lots of bird. Then get your brief to stand up in court and claim "unfair trial, m'lud!"

But your ‘associates’ take the risk of getting banged up for contempt of court

Whoever the player might be, as far as I'm concerned, he's innocent until proven otherwise.
