MKI Capri. It does look a lot like the original pic but the rear spoiler looks further back than it could be on this capri so I am still convinced it's a MKI Escort

The front grill looks too narrow here to be the same as the original pic

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it it gives forth a sound.

I believe it's case proven m'lord in favour of Palace Old Geezer

Comparing the rear side window, the contour on the bonnet and the boot it sure does appear to be a MKI Capri, 1972 model possibly :/

I know the Mk1 came out in 1969 and ran for about five years before the Mk2 hatchback replaced it. The twin headlamps and power bulge bonnet, if original, would make it a V6. The earliest ones if I remember correctly were 2.3 litre before being replaced by the 3 litre. A good investment if anyone’s got one.

Judging by the twin headlamps, I'd say it was a custom painted Capri. But it's a fuzzy pic.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

No worries Del. Not often that comparison of two Fords creates so much discussion. But, without doubt the Mexico was a better car to drive than the Capri.
