I recall Jonathan Pearce commentating on the wireless on one of our games in bygone days. After we scored he screeched out "They will be celebrating in the xxx and yyy" with xxx and yyy being public houses in the Croydon region ! Perhaps he had been in them for a tipple or two !!

jP is a brilliant commentator. He could make a goalless draw against Crewe on a wet Tuesday evening seem like a cup final.

Steve Bunce is similar with boxing.

"It feels much better than it ever did, much more sensitive." John Wayne Bobbit

My view entirely.
I cannot say I am enamoured by the commentary of Sam Matterface.

I'm not a fan of Matterface either, but funnily enough, I chuckled last night at his quirky intro like we were about to take off on a flight to some magical destination.

Lee Dixon's comments provided a good counterbalance.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Love Jonathan Pearce's enthusiasm and Willo is right to say that he was even better when he was on Capital Sport. Personally I wish he'd start yelling and screaming again because it genuinely represents how the fans are feeling.

I not sure how many of you are familiar with Bob Mortimer and Andy Dawson's football podcast Athletico Mince, which has in my opinion some very funny football related skits. There is one I find particularly amusing where they imitate Jordan and White's Talk Sport Programme. Very puerile, but none the less, if you laugh easily its a lot of fun. Posted here, as although the thread is about commentators rather than presenters, I find Jim White horrendous!
