He-he-he-he-he...no, twice the buggers have taken off as I've approached and flown straight into my path such that I couldn't avoid thumping into them.

I think that will depend on tunneling technology another area Musk is interested in. If they can substantially increase the rate of tunneling it would make all sorts of things possible.

Well they managed it really well in that movie, 'The Core'.

Forest Hillbilly Flag in a hidey-hole 04 Jul 21 6.56am Send a Private Message to Forest Hillbilly Add Forest Hillbilly as a friend

In the late 1980's I had one of the first flying cars. It was a 1.3L Escort MK 2 estate. With me as pilot, the vehicle had 2 passengers and reached a take-off speed of around 60mph and were airbourne for a flight duration of approximately 0.3 seconds.

Landing proved problematic, as we hit the tarmac, spun through 180 degrees and smashed backwards through a fence, into a farmers field of horses.

A new door from the scrap yard and a bucket of filler, and we were back on the road, but never flew again.

I disengage, I turn the page.
