At the same time I bought a 'Hugo Boss' leather wallet which I've used daily ever since. The ironic thing is that some of these designer brands get their stuff made in Turkey, and it's more than likely by the same companies that sell 'copies' in the markets.

Depends on what your buying and why your buying it. If your buying it to look flash then its a waste. If you're buying for the quality of the tailoring then it could be a decent investment. Buy cheap and buy twice as they say. Cheap disposable fast fashion clothes from the likes of Primemark are not only made through exploited labour, it's also unsustainable. Another question... how can football clubs, which ban parking, plastic stars, and single use plastic cups on the basis of sustainability bring out 3 new kits (plus 3 gk kits and a whole load of other merchandise every year)?

I used to work for a company that financed companies in the fashion world and many of the different fashion companies products are actually manufactured in the same factory, often using the same fabric. Since I stopped working from an office 20 years ago I mainly wear T shirts and the ones that I have had for donkeys years tend to be Sainsbury or Marks & Spencer with more expensive more fashionable names having shrunk over the years.

I think we agree that it's not worth paying full retail price for a 'name'. BTW, I know Bicester is OK, but a good retail outlet on the south coast is Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. You get to see HMS Victory too.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

It can be 2 days money, or an hours work.

Biggest waste of money going, and as others have said half of this stuff is available at a 1/4 of the price on occasion anyway. Shows what a killing they're making.
