Gander Green Lane was where my love of football began. Lovely to see them in League 2 now. I used to go there on my own from a very young age to watch them in the Isthmian League until I was considered old enough to go to Selhurst Park. Was one of the thousands crammed in to watch Leeds Utd give us a bit of a good hiding in the FA Cup. Was too excited to eat the sandwiches my Mum made for me and shared them on the train back from West Sutton to Sutton with a bunch of lovely Leeds fans. Always remember what a nice bunch they actually were to a little kid. I lived In Frederick Road, West Sutton from about 1968-1977. Saw many games at Gander Green Lane and played little league on the park pitches beside the ground. I remember the Leeds game, but being only 6 wasn't taken I do remember a Chelsea pre- season friendly that I did go to, because some hooligans turned up and beat up a few local kids. I remember than Alan Hudson played in the game and that I had never seen such a famous player before!
