It will be left to the discretion of pubs and other commercial enterprises as to what practices they want to employ. Some of the bigger groups have already said they have no interest in such a policy. As mentioned it’s large scale gatherings that in the short term will need to have something in place as they are ripe petri dishes for break outs.

And yes, come late summer most of this will be irrelevant anyway as most people will have us the jabs. It’s a temporary measure to get the economy going and moving back towards normality - again, no one is explaining to me what the alternative is - it’s either proof of vaccination at some large scale events, and for international travel, or a lot of those industries die on their arse.

I still don't see the point when huge numbers of us have been vaccinated.

What I get is social distancing and reduce capacity on at football grounds, concerts, clubs dining etc. That is just common sense.

Where's the common sense in denying businesses income at a time when they desperately need as much as possible when a viable alternative is available?

But how do these businesses prove to you that their staff have been vaccinated? Bearing in mind a lot of service staff are younger people they’ll still be waiting.

You mean in pubs I suppose? They cannot prove what isn't possible and I am not in a position to know how they will be asked to provide reassurance, but I imagine they will be required to have regular testing alongside the kind of restrictions we saw last year like gloves and masks.

Not just pubs; cafes, restaurants, shops too, possibly.
Doesn’t affect me but would this proof be required before allowing people on a tube train?

My guess is that it would be down to the businesses to decide what they require and not something to be made mandatory by government. Then customers would have the freedom to decide which places they use, and how they do so.

I see any move along these lines only as a tool to increase confidence to enable a faster economic recovery. People who need to use the tube can do so now, but we cannot yet attend sporting events or go to the pub.

It looks as though we’ll find out a bit more tomorrow.
Seems a bit contradictory though that people can be packed into a tube train but might have to prove their vaccination status to get into a pub; particularly since last summer pubs took all the precautions required to allow social distancing.

Maybe the pubs, especially the bigger ones, will have an area where only the vaccinated can sit and receive table service, whilst the bar area and other areas will be free of restrictions. Then it will be for people to decide what they want. I think this is all about building confidence and not at all about control. Sporting venues may do much the same, although that might be complicated by season ticket considerations.

The pubs may well not have to do anything - it would be very difficult for the larger ones and after the past year they need all the custom they can get; with necessary social distancing obviously.

Fill your boots though has happened by many many people of all politics and social status. Pointing at one potential is really playing the man not the ball. Let's wait for the enquiry and then discuss from there which is the ensible thing to do.we are very close to getting to the end now and I for one am asstressed as you about the whole bloody thing.

Fair enough mate, time might tell i guess.
