I thought I would start this thread on players that Palace were linked to this season and we didn't sign. How have they fared at their new club, were they winners or stinkers.

Can we be realistic please some players were never going to sign for Palace so no point including them.

I will start with Rhian Brewster, Liverpool to Sheffield United for about £23m. Apparently we were keen and so was he but Liverpool wanted too much money.

I don't think he has scored a PL goal for them and isn't first name on the team sheet so we dodged a bullet with that one.

Stinker

Over to you.

You realise, after your post, he will probably start banging them in, right left and centre !!

Just hearing Chris Wilder has left?

I have been talking about Brewster today as part of the discussion regarding the fate of Chris Wilder.

Sheff Utd signed him for £23.5 mill + a 15% sell-on clause with a buy-back option for 3 years.
Not scored a goal for them in 23 appearances, probably most, if not all, from the bench.

Not scored a PL goal - bound to score against us!

Benrahma was one we were linked with and ended up at West Ham. He did not feature much to start with but when i've seen him he looks like he will prove a decent signing. Probably neutral on this one but i think he would have been a good replacement/ upgrade for say Townsend.

at the time I was thinking that Brewster was the sort of player we should be in for, albeit without knowing much about him. Don't really know too much of how he's been dispatched at Sheff Utd - mainly on/from the bench. However they are more than a striker away from being a good team right now.

Would be wary of signing any Liverpool cast-offs in the future. Despite what the first team has achieved in the past, the pedigree doesn't exist in all of their players.

I was definitely glad we didn’t sign Brewster, Liverpool are probably still laughing at us for giving them not far short of £60 milllion for Benteke and Sakho

It is very easy to slag to signings of Benteke and Sakho but just remember how good Sakho was in his loan spell for us, there wasn’t a Palace fan who wasn’t delighted we signed him and the same goes for Benteke in his 15 goal season.

Correct, I was hoping though for more players on this thread. We seem to be linked with a lot and I am curious as to how those that got away have done. Hopefully we will see a trend. If they mostly fail then maybe our recruitment process is better than some of us think.
