When the old grandstand video printer read Leeds Utd 0 Crystal P 1 I nearly hit the ceiling - I was eleven years old, it's probably by favourite Palace moment. I think it's one of the all time great cup runs, along with Cameroon getting to the quarters at Italia 90, 3rd division Caen winning the French Cup or Bradford City in the League Cup a few years back. They showed clips on the big screen at the Whitehorse just after Big Mal passed away, with cigar, Fedora and Fiona Richmond, the karate kick as well, it tops the lot - I started supporting Palace in early '73 and it went downhill straight away, that cup run was part of the big turn around, and we played great football in those games. v Southampton Jim Cannon says the team just froze a bit rather than blaming defeat on Peter Taylor being nobbled, would have been an amazing final v Man U - such a shame.

Just watched the Scarborough game. Nicky Barmby's dad Jeff was playing for them and they had two players called Harry Dunn....remarkable! Edited by Eagle El (26 Feb 2021 7.02pm)

The only game I missed was the one at Scarborough. Leeds and Sunderland away were great trips and great games. I always remember Sunderland being absolutely freezing with the cold wind coming of the North Sea. Chelsea was another dramatic game. I thought we'd thrown it when Chelsea came back from 2 down, but Peter Taylor! Without that cup run Malcolm Allison would largely be just remembered for taking us from Div.1 to Div.3.
