Didn’t George Ndah score as well? Yes he scored the second goal. Ndah finished his career at Wolves where he was signed by Colin Lee. Edited by Willo (20 Jan 2021 5.56pm)

have a gander at this vid - it's the baseball ground 1975 - it's bad enough at first glance but wait 30 sec or so for it to pan out and you'll see the full horror - unbelievable!

By Christmas the grass around the penalty area and down the centre of the pitch was largely worn away on every club's ground. Thick clogging mud was the order of the day when it rained. The Baseball Ground may have been the worst but similar conditions, if not quite so extreme, were widespread.

I remember seeing games played on the mudheaps at the old 'Baseball Ground' and at 'Stamford Bridge'. Players coming off the pitch covered in thick wet mud.Such surfaces would be declared as 'Heavy' on a racecourse. Edited by Willo (20 Jan 2021 1.22pm) yes, awful pitches.

I can recall going to Selhurst early in the season and marvelling at the lovely green grass over the whole pitch. Then, during the winter seeing the only green bits around the corner flags. Funny, how we used to accept it as normal, to see the ball plugged in the middle. Passing was so much more difficult. Were the players better then? Dealing with those conditions. It's certainly hard to see the likes of Harry Kane or Salah playing on anything other than a snooker table surface. Guess what I'm watching ?
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

If they used the ball nowadays from back then we wouldn’t have a ref we would have health and safety and ambulances. All today’s woofters would be claiming damages. Every time a player is tackled now they scream incessantly like they been shot. Then once they get the free kick after a massive show of pain they are up like nothing happened. Wooses

Wooses Ball with laces which was much heavier than the current ones when dry and of course they got heavier with all the 'Tough Mudder' mud from the pitches of yesteryear. The wings had a bit of grass on but all of the play was through the middle. The ref let a lot go but no-one whinging (agreed Fergie hadn't managed yet).
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
