Hope everyone's doing ok.

Just thought I'd share a couple of bits which I've seen pop up recently that I thought were pretty interesting.

Firstly this short report on ITV about new potentials for mental health treatment in the UK.

[Link]

This then led me to a longer documentary which I thought was fascinating but also pretty heartbreaking at times. But I'd definitely reccomend having a watch.

[Link]

I can't say I know much about this area but to me it at least seems positive that other avenues are being explored.

I've heard a fair bit from people about these kind of treatments. It's been hard to gain funding or acknowledgement on account of what are preconceived and prejudiced ideas really. On the surface it sounds a bit wild, but ultimately on these things it's important to follow the science. If something works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't. Lots of work in the field of PTSD and the like suggests it holds a meaningful place.

A mate of mine went to the doctor recently, saying he thinks he's depressed. Doctor turns around and says 'aren't we all f#cking depressed!'. Genuine story, I laughed and it did kind of cheer me up. Hasn't been a great year or two.

A bloke went to the doctor and said he thinks he"s a dog. Doctor says, what do you mean you think yo"ure a dog? "Never mind, hop on the couch and i"ll examine you." "I"m not allowed on the couch," said the bloke! (Stole that off here.)

Haha. Not exactly medicine, but it does offer a valuable and comedic perspective on what we've all been through of late.

Strange enough My mental health was fine all the way through the pandemic up until May / June this year comming out of it and the need for vaccine passports in ireland. My mental health has just gone down the drain big time.

At least you can recognise it and admit it. There's a service here called let's talk - counselling for whatever price you can actually afford. As you're probably aware, you're not likely to get anywhere with our health service.
Anyway, best of luck mate, and remember, when Palace win - we all feel miles better. Send me a pm if you ever want a chat - no problem.

Reminds me of an annual work review quite a few years back. "Forest sets himself low standards of achievement,....and yet still fails to accomplish them"

I think those living alone, particularly in cities, have been impacted a significant amount. Even small face-to-face human interactions have a beneficial impact on well-being, and people have missed that.

I think also mental illness has been demeaned quite a bit by the Covid bandwagon, of (choose your celebrity) "Ooh, I've been really suffering, haven't we all ?". Low levels of stress are part of life, get used to it.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Hi Chaddy -
2 resources that have been useful recently-
a) The doctor app LIVI - at least you can see a doctor on the screen & anything discussed / notes are forwarded to your doctors surgery -
b) Mind Matters - ( Counselling service - Free) Numbers on the internet.
Hope some of its useful.
Take care,

My wife has suffered with MH / Depression for over 27 years, made worse as she's stuck working from home since last March & in the past 2/3 months the major point of Menopause has kicked in big time. Last couple of months has been hell to put it mildly & trying to get assistance is impossible, a face to face with our Dr is out of the question.
